Goal
Create a portfolio "product" that explains what a product manager is, demonstrates my experience across different products, and that drives engagement while being easy to navigate and concise to understand.
Hypothesis
My prediction is that the customers, portfolio visitors/recruiters/hiring managers, will generate a gradual increase in viewership of this portfolio. They will engage with multiple pages because of a clean and organized layout as well as engaging content. I estimate that the number of interviews presented to me will increase by 200% (tripling the amount) and that at least 50% of these interviews will result in job offers. All of this will be made possible through my product manager portfolio paired with my strong interview skills.
Metrics
Page Views, Unique Visits, and Average Page Views Per Visit (See Below)
The Plan
Step One - Product Manager Home Screen/Table of Contents
- Showcase three categories/content pages to start
- Make sure that each image represents my work or the content as well as possible
- This page should be simple and returned to frequently
- The buttons should STAND OUT
Step Two - Content Pages
- 2A Portfolio Setup Project (This Page)
- Showcase my process and how I work
- 2B Game Product Manager
- Demonstrate my ability to create, define, execute, maintain, and build on a product in the video game industry
- 2C Computer Software Product Manager
- Prove adaptability to working with a variety of products, especially across technological fields
Step Three - Maximizing Engagement "The X-Factor"
- Drawing in New "Customers" or Audiences
- Retention of Portfolio Visitors/Recruiters/Hiring Managers
Step Four - Opportunities for Future Features and Growth
- Expand the number of categories/content pages on the Home Screen over time as I gain experience across a wider variety of products
- Potentially dedicate a section of my portfolio to products that I created and products of others that I helped create
- For example, "My Own Products" and "Products I Guided" or something to that effect
- Add a section to each content page titled "How It Started" and "How It Ended" to show the measurable impact of my work and how far my contributions went: 0 to 1 (concept to product launch), existing product to same product but with new features that drove success, etc.
Closing Thoughts
By viewing my product manager portfolio in this way, I will be able to create a product plan (in this case my portfolio), define what success looks like, design around the user experience, find a way to achieve results, and be able to measure success.
